| An awesome divine appointment…They said “Yes” to Jesus. There was an awesome divine appointment. My translator, Baijara, had been praying for her family for 17 years. There is no church in her village and the people desperately need to hear about Jesus. There was one small problem. Baijara’s village was several hours north of Ulanbaatar near the Siberian border. It was quickly determined that the only feasible way was by plane. The cost was over $500 for both of us. God provided an anonymous donor and we were off. As we entered the town, I was at peace knowing God is doing awesome work. We entered Baijara’s mother’s ger and it was very warm. Her mother was very hospitable and I enjoyed meeting her family. The following morning I shared the gospel with Baijara’s mother. She received Jesus with sincerity and gentle loving eyes. Baijara’s brother and his wife came later. I sat on a little stool and shared the gospel again. They said “Yes” to Jesus. As they left they told others to come and hear the Good News. I sat there for half the day as people came in that little ger and then left and told others to come. The same thing happened the next morning. More came and brought sisters, brothers, husbands, and others to hear about Jesus the Son of God who died for the sins of the world and gave life in His name. Baijara and I named the mom’s ger, “The Good News Ger.” Praise God, He has done GREAT things. Every single person that heard the gospel in the “Good News Ger” said “Yes” to Jesus. Susan
Project Coordinator, Keith McWhorter, led 19 Americans and 10 national participants to Ulanbaatar Mongolia and surrounding areas. Mongolia is a country of diversity from modern skyscrapers in Ulanbaatar to nomads living very primitively in the city suburbs and countryside. It is a country of yaks, camels, horses, cattle, sheep, and reindeers. The teams visited prisons, a hospice, an orphanage, gers, apartments, and small homes. The gers (as shown in the
picture) are round tents that many Mongolians live in. Many Mongolians still live as nomads. There were 391 men, women, and children who indicated that they prayed to accept Christ and five rededicated their lives. Below are some of the team member’s stories:
A woman came to the team wanting to know what to tell her alcoholic husband. She was told that he needed Jesus. It was shared with her how we inherited our sin nature from Adam and that sin caused us much grief and distress. Also, we could not change our sinful nature without faith in Jesus. To my surprise, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. In trying to help and understand her husband, she helped herself into the Kingdom of Heaven! Ted
A team had stopped three young people on the street and witnessed to them. The young man was 19 years old and the two girls were 14 and 15 years old. All three accepted Christ. When we left I looked back and noticed that they were entering a gate in the wall right next to where we had met them. The realization that just a very few seconds had made a great difference in their eternal destiny. If we had been later, they would not have been there. “…I being in the way, the Lord led me… Hallowed be his name.” G. R. G.
During the week we hoped to share the gospel to the children of a family. The children were not home so we prayed with the parents. They came to the Saturday night service and Sunday morning service. We took them home after the services. Sunday they asked us to come to their home again and pray for their children. They had a heavy burden for them. We went inside and their son and two grandchildren were there. A team member shared the gospel, and they all prayed to receive Christ. Praise God that we took the time to go into their home Sunday afternoon. It was a Divine appointment. Jenny The pastor wanted me to speak to some children. I’ve never spoken to kids before, other than my own, but I couldn’t refuse. While going into the church, there were 22 children waiting for me and the translator, Ginny. The kids sang and danced for a while, and then Ginny told me that I had the floor to share with the kids. I told the kids the stories about the Good Samaritan and Jesus with the children. I told them that unless we believe like a child we will not see Heaven. I then left the lectern and Ginny continued speaking to them. Ginny later said seven kids asked Jesus into their heart. Orla
The very first day a team took a taxi and led our cab driver to Christ. Our cab driver had no idea who we were or why we were in Mongolia, but she started asking us about Christianity. It was truly a divine appointment. Later that day we witnessed to a woman who had no idea we were coming. She said the night before she had a dream about a very important meeting. It was truly a divine appointment. This was just the first day. It was just the beginning of things to come. Loren |
