“It was just my time and I could not run anymore”

During one visit a lady said, “It is too easy to have Jesus.”  She said a friend gave her a Bible that she received from a missionary.  That friend told her that she accepted Christ and was going to heaven, but the lady did not believe it.  I asked the lady, “Are you going to heaven when you die?”  She said, “No!”  The team shared the love of Christ with the lady.  She accepted Christ into her heart.  She said, “It was just my time, and I could not run anymore!”  Dwayne

Bob Kerr and Scott Mayse, IC Project Coordinators, led 40 people from the United States to Santos, Brazil where they were joined by over 80 Christians from Brazil and other countries for a week of personal evangelism in 40 churches.  Because of the outpouring of God's love and the faithful work of all the participants, there were 2,475 men, women, and young people who indicated they made decisions for Christ that week.

Below are some highlights that Bob shared:

  • A team went to a drug rehabilitation center where 27 men prayed to receive Christ.
  • One team went to a school were Mark, a team member, was playing his guitar and the kids were jumping up and down; it sounded like a rock concert. Mark shared the Gospel with the EvangeCube.  There were at least 47 kids who received the Lord or filled out decision cards.
  • When one team made their second visit, someone told them that their interpreter, Fabio, was not saved. They questioned Fabio.  He said he had prayed to receive Christ during a previous visit.  Later, I was told his father, who was working in the kitchen cooking food for the team, was not saved.  When I began to talk to him, tears flowed before he even said a word.  It was like he had been waiting for someone to talk to him.
  • At one home visit, some of the church members said they had prayed for the person at that home for a long time.  I shared my testimony and the plan of salvation. When the lady received the Lord her mother stood up, raised her hands, and began to sing a song.  Meanwhile, the interpreter was hugging the new believer and weeping. It was quite a scene. It warmed my heart to see how they loved the one who was saved. God is so good!

Here are a few testimonies from the team members:

The teams’ first visit was with a man who struggled with alcohol.  I shared my testimony and through it God touched his heart.  He accepted Jesus into his heart, and words cannot describe that moment.  Derek

At the end of the week and after the team’s last fellowship at the church, the interpreter informed us that we had two more visits.  It was explained to the interpreter that we did not have time.  She understood, but the pastor would not listen to her.  The pastor said it was a misunderstanding; there was only one visit.  The team did not have much time but gladly agreed.  We were shocked when we discovered that the visit was the pastor’s father-in-law.  We shared the gospel with him, and he received the Lord Jesus.  Todd

One day the team attended two birthday parties where the host was excited for us to share.  The host made posters to welcome us, and everyone who was not a Christian accepted Christ.  Mark

One team shared the Gospel with student firefighters.  All the students prayed to accept Christ.  We followed with a time of questions and answers and then asked for prayer requests.  After several questions about the spiritual condition of the USA, the firefighters prayed for the team and the USA.  They said, “Thank you for bringing us Jesus.”  The team wept with gratitude for the life changing power of the gospel and the opportunity to be a part of its proclamation there among those students.  Larry
